Quinn Akeby Gagos (she/her) is a 29 year-old artist based in the Sacramento Area in California creating both performing and visual arts. With professional work across dance, photography, and chalk pastel.
Growing up in Oakdale, CA, Gagos trained in ballet, jazz, and tap at Valley Oak School of Dance. She completed summer programs with Central California Summer Dance Conservatory hosted by Juline’s School of Dance, Ballet San Jose, and Central West Ballet. She joined Central West Ballet as an Artist for their 2014/15 Season.
After graduating high school, Gagos studied dance at The George Washington University along with Psychology and Art History. While there, her training consisted of post-modern dance, improvisation technique, and choreography. While in university, Gagos was the dance department stage manager, rehearsal director for guest choreographer Ann Carlson, performed work by guest choreographers Anton Ovchinnikov and Erica Rebollar, and choreographed multiple pieces. Gagos has had many mentors in dance, but she would be remiss not to highlight the impact of Maida Withers, who opened the mind and the doors to many amazing opportunities in Gagos’ life.
Since graduating, Quinn Akeby has participated in multiple dance projects as both choreographer and performer. She has also had gallery showings of her photography and chalk pastel. In 2024, Gagos began training in Aerial Sling. Recently, she was able to attend a Life/Art Process taught by Daria Halprin and the Tamalpa Institute at Esalen Institute. This education and experience has refreshed and reinforced Gagos' vision for her own work.
Currently, Quinn Akeby is a company dancer with Sacramento Dance Theatre.
Quinn Akeby views everyday life through the lens of art which she believes has led to continued exploration of many different art forms--most notably photography and chalk pastel.
